Dead rat found in a soup at Chinese restaurant chain

An investigation into Chinese restaurant chain Xiabu Xiabu was conducted after a pregnant woman said she had found a dead rat in her soup this past Thursday night. Because she was bearing a child, her husband and her became concerned about the health of their unborn child. As a result, the restaurant allegedly offered them 20,000 yuan (about $3,000 U.S dollars) for an abortion.

Sources didn’t actually disclose whether the couple accepted any money from the chain, but did go to a hospital for a checkup. The restaurant was closed for unrelated health code violations, including “pooled water in the food processing areas.”
