Paris Fashion Week Returns 28 September: How to Dress the City Before the Shows

Paris Fashion Week for spring 2027 womenswear is scheduled from 28 September to 6 October 2026, opening with Julie Kegels in the afternoon and closing with Louis Vuitton in the early evening. Maison Margiela and Valentino are back on the official calendar. Dior keeps its traditional mid-afternoon slot. Saint Laurent takes the night. Drew Henry makes a Courreges debut.

That is the industry timetable. For everyone else in the city, the week is a dress code that leaks onto pavements. The mistake is to copy a lookbook. The upgrade is to borrow three ideas and wear them with clothes you already own.

The three ideas that travel off the runway

First, a sharper shoulder or a cleaner jacket line. Several houses still treat the jacket as the sentence that starts an outfit. If your blazer sags at the collar, have it nipped or replace it with a straight, slightly shorter cut in navy, black or pale stone.

Second, a long line. Coats, skirts and trousers that skim rather than cling photograph better and walk better on limestone. If you only buy one piece before the week, make it a coat that covers the hem of a dress.

Third, a single piece of shine or hardware instead of a loud print. A silver shoe, a dark patent bag, a belt with a real buckle. Paris crowds punish costume and reward one decided detail.

What to wear if you will be near the shows

You do not need a front-row pass to stand on a street in the 8th or 16th. You do need shoes you can walk in. A low block heel or a polished loafer will outlast a new stiletto on cobbles. Carry a compact bag that closes. Leave the oversized shopper at home unless you are actually shopping.

Colour: charcoal, tobacco, cream, black, a controlled red. If you want print, keep it to a scarf you can remove. Hair off the face. Sunglasses that sit well, not joke frames.

A one-hour upgrade

Polish the shoes you already like. Steam the jacket. Replace a tired belt. Add one piece of fine jewellery or a watch and stop. That hour will do more than a panic order of a logo dress that arrives on 7 October.
