Polls open

Montreal, 5 October 2026. Voters in Quebec went to the polls to elect members of the National Assembly, CBC and The Guardian reported.

The vote is provincial, not federal. It decides who governs the French-speaking province on language, immigration, and the budget.

Results were not final in the accounts available Monday morning in Paris. Turnout and the seat count will decide whether the outgoing government keeps a majority.

Quebec elections are watched in France because language and secularism rules in the province are a standing reference in Paris debates.
